How to measure your windows

Basic Guidelines:

  • Accurate measurements are essential in order for the shade to properly fit in the window opening.
Please note, our blinds come in standard lengths that can be easily shortened following the included step-by-step instructions.
    • Faux Wood Blinds are available in 45”, 72” or 84” lengths.
Shades are only available in 70” lengths, please ensure that this will fit your window size.
  • Always use a steel tape measure.
  • Measure each window separately even if windows appear to be the same size.
  • Ensure to provide imperial units for measurements (inches).

Inside mount

height
Inside mount width

Step 1 : Measure the inside width at 3 locations—the top, middle and bottom. Record the smallest of the 3 measurements. Ensure that you measure the space that is free of any obstacles (ex. window handles, locks, etc). This is your ordering width.

We will make the necessary deductions (1⁄2").

Step 2 : Measure the lenght at 3 locations – the left side, middle and right side. Record the largest of the 3 measurements. This is your ordering length.

Outside mount

height
Outside mount width

Step 1 : Measure the width of the area you wish to cover with the shade cloth (usually, from window frame edge to the other). if space allows, we recommend adding 2”-3” (1” - 1 1/2” each side) to this measurement to help eliminate light seepage. This is your ordering width. The overall measurement of the shade will be approximately 1.25” wider than the cloth width to allow for brackets.

Step 2 : Measure the lenght of the area you wish to cover with the shade cloth (usually, from full length of the window from outer frame to lower sill). If space allows, we recommend to add 2-4” (1-2” each side) to this measurement to allow for complete coverage.
